The Odroid is an Android games console that proves Google’s mobile platform can still rival the iPhone for 3D graphics and then some, and it’s creeping closer to a global release. Read on to see it in action on video!
The Odroid Android games console is a tasty little Game Gear alike with some impressive specs, including a 3.5-inch 320×480 capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a microSD slot, but most tantalisingly of all, HDMI output. As you can see in this video, the Odroid Android games console pumps out stunning 3D graphics in 720p on a 42-inch HDTV.
It’s been floating around for developers in South Korea for a few months now, but Odroid has just released a worldwide developer edition with free shipping for $349 (£210) so there’s theoretically nothing stopping you from picking one up now.
On a flatscreen, the Odroid handheld looks nothing short of sensational, but we reckon this video shows something else too. Android could make an incredible games controller, given its ability to be shoved into hardware of any shape and size, and support for tilting. It’s actually a little bit odd that current gen games controllers don’t have screens in them, and Google’s OS would be a fantastic way to do it.
Check out the Odroid Android games console in action in the video by giving that play button a pop, stat.
