I'd not be surprised if Vodafone had to pull the HD2 because of politics with Apple. Did Apple make them pull the plug it after realising this is a serious contender to their handset? Were Vodafone forced to choose? If so, it suggests that Apple is effectively bullying networks to tow their line, which is in nobody's interest but theirs.

I've been trying to get the handset on T-Mobile, who are taking the HD2 seriously, but they literally cannot hold on to them long enough. Even though I ordered it 2 weeks ago, I still have to wait for at least 3 more rounds of new stock to come in before getting it due to a massive backlog or orders. As the guy I'm dealing with said: "We get 3,000 in of a morning, and they're all gone by 10am". Has the HD2 gotten Apple worried?

The HTC HD2 had supply issues. I'm guessing the launch stock was recalled after the pink camera defect was discovered.

Anyone else remember when voda disabled the feature of using mp3s as ring tones on ericsson handsets, so that you had to buy from them!
Sorted by flashing to generic firmware!

Why have just one flagship consumer smartphone in your stable (Other than any contractual issues about how many you need to sell)? I like that O2 have several: the iPhone, the Palm Pre AND the HTC HD2.

Vodafone will replace the HD2 with the HTC Passion. Very similar phones, but the Passion runs Android.

Vodafone have been a joke with the way they have treated customers ordering the HD2. They have been misled daily. Even now, their website states the following:

The phenomenal HD2 is proving extremely popular. We are doing everything we can to ensure the next delivery is prioritised for Vodafone customers. The next delivery of the HD2 is currently expected mid-December.

Order yours today, and we'll make you a priority customer.

Even HTC confirmed just a few days ago that Vodafone would not be discontinuing the HD2.

This stinks of backhanders to stop the biggest rival to the iphone.
