Square, the new payments service founded by Twitter creator Jack Dorsey, sees Apple as a competitor. Dorsey made the admission today at the LeWeb conference in Paris.
Dorsey said Square will go live for everyone by March 2010 and says he believes Apple could become a direct competitor. Rumours have swirled around about an Apple built “Paypal killer” for some time.
Dorsey went on to say that he while Square is focusing on “the user experience – getting people in without contracts”, he believes Apple will “do things differently”.
LeWeb also saw the first live public demo of Square, demonstrating making a payment via Orange’s mobile network after the event’s WiFi failed.
