Sony is rebranding its eBook Store this Friday and also switching book formats at the same time. From 10 December it’ll be called the Reader Store and all eBooks will come in EPUB format.
EPUB is an open format and Sony will be moving its entire inventory over, so any new purchases or re-downloads of existing titles will only be available in EPUB format after the change over.
Once the store switch over has gone through, Sony will also push out the new 3.1 version of its Reader Library software. The app will be available in both Windows and Mac flavours – including support for Windows 7 and Snow Leopard.
Sony will take the existing eBook Store offline on Thursday afternoon, before switching on the new version later the next day.
