HTC HeroHTC could be planning a Qwerty keyboard packing version of the HTC Hero – the HTC Espresso – if details hidden in a leaked HTC Android 2.1 ROM are to be believed.

According to profile information within the HTC ROM, the HTC Espresso will be the second HTC device to pack a slide-out keyboard. The first was the HTC Dream which emerged as the T-Mobile G1.

The HTC Espresso seems to use the same chipset as the HTC Hero and will probably have the same 320×480 resolution screen. There’s no pictures of the new device yet but the codename Espresso was leaked with a raft of others last week.

With HTC’s 2010 roadmap out in the wild, it might not be long before the HTC Espresso reveals itself too.

Hopefully this will see the light of day soon, was thinking of buying the Milestone but after looking at the botch job they have made of ordering, it put me off (7th December? Not the case by looking at their own support forum).

The Magic i’m using at the moment is fantastic and had a brief play with the Hero, but lack of qwerty made me skip it.

Hardly “the second HTC device to pack a slide-out keyboard”… Do a little research and you’ll find HTC have made LOADS of devices with hardware keyboards…

Also, i have a Hero, and apart from 1 game (What the Doodle), i havent found anything thats made me feel i need an alternative to the on-screen keyboard… if i was gonna upgrade, it’d be a unit with a Snapdragon 1GHz processor.
