Vodafone iPhone settingsThe Vodafone iPhone doesn’t go on sale until next year, but should you just so happen to have stumbled across an unlocked handset and popped the network’s SIM in, there’s good news. Vodafone’s iPhone settings are live and ready to download through iTunes. Is an official Vodafone iPhone launch being prepped early? It seems Apple, and iTunes, is ready for it.

If you’ve got an iPhone running iPhone OS 3.1.2 on Vodafone right now, you’ll be prompted to download the Vodafone iPhone settings next time you hook your Apple handset up to iTunes.

You’ll need to do this to make sure your 3G data connection stays up and running, but it could have much more significance than that. Apple readying the Vodafone settings now suggests it’s gearing up to let the network sell the iPhone as soon as it possibly can.

Vodafone gets the iPhone for 2010

Vodafone has already said that it won’t get the iPhone until 2010, but this move means we could be seeing it unleashed it as soon after the clock strikes 12 on 31 December as practicalities allow.

The only question is, what will Vodafone charge for the iPhone? Orange disappointed with its meagre data allowances and O2 price matching, so we’re hopeful Vodafone will shake things up a bit.

Thought Orange and Vodaphone were merging into one carrier? If so, don’t expect to get more than matching with O2 or current Orange rates. You can hope though.
