If you’ve been keeping up with all the HTC Android news in the last week or so then well done, we’re very proud of you. If you haven’t, then lucky for you we’re on hand to fill you in and also give you the latest.
It all began last week when a leaked screen-shot of a HTC Sense running Android 2.1 was posted all over the web. If the rumour mill wasn’t already in overdrive as a result of that image, then it definitely was when a couple of developer sites put up a leaked HTC Sense Android 2.1 ROM.
But the most exciting news of all comes today as a result of somebody’s super-sleuthing within the leaked ROM. You see, it appears that there are a number of device codenames written into the ROM – 20 in total, and 13 which are totally new to us. Dragon, Dream, Passion and, of course, Hero were already familiar names and there are seven variations of these on the list.
The full list of is: Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC, Hero, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, PassionC, Passion, Sapphire and Supersonic.
The list poses a number of questions. Do these names all relate to new HTC handsets? What does the big C mean? And did HTC’s naming team simply flick through a couple of Marvel comics before coming up with the names?
Obviously, we’ll be working hard on getting to the bottom of this mystery and when we do, we’ll be sure to let you guys know.
