Universal unveils Flipper dual format Blu-ray/DVD titles

View Comments

flipper-01Universal Studios is hoping to tempt over Blu-ray refuseniks with its new dual spec discs. The Flipper format features a high def Blu-ray disc on one side and a regular DVD version on the other for the best of both worlds.

The idea is that you can buy the DVD version now and then upgrade to Blu-ray later on simply by flipping the disc. Of course, if you’ve already got a high def player, there’s nothing to stop you throwing it in DVD side down and partying like it’s 1999.

Universal is promising the same extras on both versions, although Blu-ray will also provide access to advanced features such as U-Control and BD-Live.

The Bourne Identity Supremacy Ultimatum will be the first title available in Flipper format with others no doubt to follow.

Out January 2010 | £TBC | Universal Studios
