Nintendo DS FlipsNintendo DS Flips may sound like some sort of console shaped candy but it’s actually a new line of ebooks from EA, aimed at getting kids reading by playing on their DS addictions and it launches this week. Read on for the deets!

If you’re short on present ideas for your niece or nephew, you could do worse than EA’s Nintendo DS Flips line. It’s a series of books as games, with bundles of stories included in each title. There’s an Artemis Fowl Nintendo DS Flips collection, for instance, as well as an Enid Blyton cart.

We’re not so hot on reading full tomes on a DS screen but the Nintendo DS Flips series jazzes things up by throwing in interactive quizzes, links and box outs to keep book shy kids entertained.

The first Nintendo DS Flips – Blyton, Artemis Fowl, Cathy Cassidy and Too Ghoul For School – launch on Friday and you can check out how they work in the trailer below.

The software is great as are the books on the software, hopefully these will get children reading more instead of playing video games all the time.
