Stella Artois’s doing things a little differently this Crimbo, letting you send an e-card with a twist. It’s an augmented reality app that puts you inside your very own boozy snow globe!
Lager line Stella Artois’s e-card puts the recipient inside their own virtual reality snow globe on the desktop, with them holding up your message. As you can see in the video, you can shift it around by moving, and you can even whip the snow flakes around by blowing into your PC’s microphone.
DIY virtual reality goggles: make your own
The e-card is part of Stella Artois’s “send a card, save a tree” campaign, and the Belgian brewer promises to preserve a tree in the endangered rainforest that borders Argentina and Brazil and Paraguay for every one sent. The goal is to get one million e-cards pinged out by the 25th, and to chart the scheme’s progress, a tree in Hyde Park in London has been put up. A bauble will light up for every 100,000 sent.
If you fancy sending a Stella Artois e-card, you can personalise yours here, and should you have the urge to check on the scheme’s progress, you can view the tree in Hyde Park on a webcam too.
