?Sony Ericsson Satio? The Sony Ericsson Satio may pack a more powerful camera than the iPhone, but did you know that it’s a better phone for gaming than the iPhone 3GS? Thats’s what one game developer claims. Is he missing the point?

According to mobile game developer Fishlabs’ boss Michael Schade, the Sony Ericsson Satio’s powerful hardware inside make it a superior gaming machine: “The Satio features the same 3D-Chip PowerVR SGX as the iPhone 3GS running Symbian on an even more powerful CPU ARM11 clocked at 600MHz”, he writes in his blog. He also points out how easy it was to port an iPhone game, Rally Master Pro, from the iPhone to Symbian for the Sony Ericsson Satio, while increasing the screen resolution in the process.

Of course, what Fishlabs fails to mention is that hardware is only half the battle. For a powerful gaming platform, you need strong third party developer support, which the iPhone, with an App Store fast approaching 100,000 different offerings, definitely has.

It also helps if your phone hasn’t just been recalled for a catalogue of software problems, as the Sony Ericsson Satio has. Best of luck to you Fishlabs – we’ll be pleased if you prove our doubts wrong.
