Nintendo’s next Legend Of Zelda game on the Wii will include new forms of transport for Link to ride and some seriously cool uses of Wii MotionPlus. But don’t take our word for it. Ask Legend Of Zelda director, Eiji Aonuma, who’s talked candidly about the new Zelda game.
Talking to The Guardian, Aonuma was keen not to “spoilt the pleasant surprise” we’re set to get with the next Zelda game but drop some hints. The first was about transportation for the hero, Link.
Aonuma said: “I have an eight-year-old son and he started playing The Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DS. When he started playing with the boat, I told him: In the next Zelda, you are going to be able to ride on the train. He answered: OK, Dad, first boat, and then train? Surely next time, Link is going to fly in the sky…”
So it looks like Link could be sprouting wings or getting himself a flying machine for the Wii game. However, Aonuma himself wouldn’t drop any further hints on that saying: “If many people make many speculations, some of them might be correct…”
He did however talk further about Zelda on the Nintendo Wii and its use of the Wii Motionplus. “With this attachment, your minute hand movements are precisely reflected. I believe we will be able to offer some great innovations in the new Legend of Zelda.
We are contemplating altering the way the game progresses in comparison with past Legend of Zelda franchises.”
Looks like we should get ready for some interesting new sword-swinging gameplay as well as a flying Link in the next installment of Legend of Zelda.
