Pixel QiPixel Qi stole the show at Computex in Taiwan earlier this year with its clever e-paper laptop display, but now the company is working on something even more ambitious: an ultra low power HDTV that will run off solar power at a push!

Pixel Qi, which begins mass production of its e-paper netbook screens next month, now says it has begun designing a sub-10 watt HDTV for households the world of where electricity still isn’t a constant and plentiful resource.

Pixel Qi: eInk laptops incoming!

Pixel Qi’s vision is that in hot climates, you’ll be able to charge a battery through solar power to watch its HDTV, it will be so low powered. Not only that, but Pixel Qi reckons it’ll even be able to meet a price target of $100 (£60). Ambitious? Yes. Daydreaming? Unless Pixel Qi is planning on making a black and white TV using e-paper tech, quite possibly. But Pixel Qi has already shown it can innovate, so we’ll be watching to see what it comes up with.
