The LaCie LaCinema Classic HD is a powerful new media box from the company – and it even tops LaCie’s Philippe Starck hard drives for peripheral panache. It’s a gorgeous black slab of set top that pumps 1080p video over the air to your TV, and it’s out now.

The LaCie LaCinema Classic HD, which comes with a whopping 1TB hard drive built in, plays back full HD video in a vast range of formats, including MKV and H.264, and because it’s DLNA friendly, you don’t even need to plug it in to the computer – just stream what’s stashed on your PC if you like. You’ll also find a front facing USB port for plugging in a camera and quickly showing all your snaps on the big screen.

In the box, the LaCie LaCinema Classic HD comes with an HDMI cable and ethernet cord, plus DLNA Twonky Media Server software for PC and Mac. Unfortunately, you’ll need to buy the Wi-Fi adapter separately, but we can let that slip when it looks so good.

The LaCie LaCinema Classic HD is on sale at LaCie’s online store now at a shade under 200 notes.

Out Now | £199 | LaCie

Why would you have a box like this, when a PS3 already does all this (and much more) for £199?
