The LG GT540: that’s the name of LG’s second Android effort according to a new leak, which outs a few specs too. Could this be the rumoured Google phone?
According to a leaked user agent profile from LG, the LG GT540 is the next Android handset from the company, after the QWERTY keypad LG GW620. The document also reveals a couple of specs, confirming HSDPA connectivity, as well as the display resolution of the LG GT540 (320×480, the same as the GW620 and the iPhone).
Is LG making the Google phone?
That resolution might well rule out the LG GT540 as the Google branded blower – the Android 2.0 Motorola Droid/Milestone has a much sharper 854×480 screen, and it seems unlikely that Google would want its name attached to more budget based hardware, especially since the report claims it will only run Android 1.5 too. A Snapdragon processor might also be wasted on a lower-res screen, and LG has already confirmed an Android Snapdragon phone is on the way – is this in fact a third model?
Whatever the case, we’re not going to begrudge the LG GT540 a spot on the budget end of the Android echelon. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as the first pics and official details are in.
