ArcherMind Android satnavFancy a full on Android satnav on your dashboard? Google Maps Navigation might make any smartphone a free PND, but this big screen dedicated Android GPS promises a stack of features on a big screen, built right into the car body! Read on to find out what it can do.

The Android satnav you’re looking at here has just gone on show at the Embedded Technology tradeshow in Japan. Made by Chinese firm ArcherMind, this Android satnav comes with a large seven inch WVGA (800×480) display, runs on a Marvell processor, and is capable of web browsing over 3G or Wi-Fi, packs a hard drive and SD slot, plays music, and can even send SMS messages. Think of a Navman Spirit TV, only sitting pretty in the dash.

There are no plans for a Western release any time soon, but ArcherMind certainly moves fast – it started work on this Android satnav concept in July – so you never know. Mio may not be making that Android satnav, but here’s to the others filling that gap.
