Can’t wait to play Star Trek Online, the MMORPG set in the world of Klingons, Vulcans, tight jumpers and bowl job haircuts? Publisher Atari’s just dropped word of when the open beta kicks in, so read on to find out how you can beam aboard early.
Starting on 12 January and running until 26 January, you’ll be able to test out Star Trek Online in open beta, if you act fast. Atari and developer Cryptic Studios are giving out the keys on a first come first serve basis from the Star Trek Online site, but the rush hasn’t begun yet, so you’ll have to check back on a regular basis to get dibs on the beta.

Star Trek Online, set in the year 2409, blasts off with a full launch on 5 February, so if you don’t manage to get in there early, you won’t have too long to wait to play it. Who wants World of Warcraft when you can have starships instead of horsies?
