If you’ve already checked out the Nokia N900 videothon going down at the moment but are still thirsting for Maemo action, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve just snagged one of our very own to prise from its packaging, and we’ve caught it all on camera for you. Read on for the unboxing!
Now we’ve got our hands on a Nokia N900 of our very own, we’re impressed by the solid, if chunky build of it. Although it’s lacking the hinged angle of the N97′s screen, in many ways it feels like it’s a successor to it. The keyboard’s been improved, with non-island keys, and the screen is sharper. We’re not sure about the weak and wobbly kickstand on the back of the Nokia N900, but at least it’s well merged with the camera lens cover, so doesn’t add to the bulk.
Nokia N900 Video Fest kicks off!
It’s Maemo 5 on board the Nokia N900 we’re loving the most though. Although it still has a little bit of a Symbian S60 feel (and we mean that in the nicest possible way – Nokia’s kept the fonts the same), it’s far more pretty, and powerful too as you may have seen already.
It multitasks like a widecreen Palm Pre, showing your open apps and internet tabs next to each other in a grid, the homescreen has multiple profile spaces a la Android, and instant messaging is controlled from tab on the status bar.
We’ll be putting the Nokia N900 through its paces over the weekend so stay tuned for a full Nokia N900 review, and in the meantime, scoff your eyes with our unboxing snaps right here!
