Livescribe PulseDespite the Livescribe Pulse pen looking like a chunky ballpoint someone nicked from the post office, we were bowled over by the dictaphone doodler when we reviewed it last month. Now though, it’s just got even smarter, with the launch of the Livescribe Pulse app store. No, really.

The Livescribe Pulse is clever enough on its own, letting you match up recording with the notes you made at the time, tot up sums without a calculator and even play the piano, but the Livescribe Pulse app store now lets third party developers come up with their own spins. Head on over there now and you’ll find everything from the useful (French, German and Spanish travel phrases) to the novel (Hangman) to the gimmicky (An Insulting Oracle that dispenses derogatory remarks). There’s even a Torah translator for $99.99 (£60)!

Prices on the Livescribe Pulse app store are in dollars, but some apps are free and you can buy and download them if you’re in the UK, US, Australia or Canada. It’s currently in beta, so you’ll have to permit the Livescribe Pulse app store a few bugs, but if you’ve got this bionic biro, you need to get over there and treat yourself, stat.
