Could LG be crafting a dedicated Google phone behind the scenes? That’s the latest rumour doing the rounds online, and this one’s got some serious weight behind it. Could it be the superfast Snapdragon Android sequel to the GW620 we’ve been promised?
According to sources at TechCrunch, a solely branded, dedicated Google phone running Android is due next year. This, the blog says is confirmed. But it’s also heard whispers from sources that the Google phone will be made by a South Korean company rather than an obvious candidate such as HTC. That means two obvious choices, mobile giants Samsung and LG.
LG Android Snapdragon sequel confirmed
Samsung plays a big role in dishing out kit for Apple’s iPhone, so if it was making the Google phone it could sour another lucrative contract, which leaves LG, another member of the Android Open Handset Alliance.
LG’s GW620 QWERTY Android phone will soon arrive in the UK, but it’s already promised another Google smartphone, with a blazing Snapdragon processor, and possibly, no physical keyboard. Is this the full on Google phone? TechCrunch says an official outing for the Google phone awaits early next year, but if it is LG behind it, you can expect a good few leaks along the way.
