Windows MarketplaceWindows Marketplace is, from today, available for handsets running Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1. That’s great news for folks who haven’t spent some readies on the latest Windows Mobile handsets. But what does the Windows Marketplace have to offer?

The Windows Marketplace doesn’t quite compete with the iTunes App Store in terms of apps available. But with 20,000 Win Mob applications in there, it has plenty to choose from.

To get Windows Marketplace on your Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1 based device, just visit mp.windowsphone.com to start the download. Or from your home computer, visit windowsphone.com/getmarketplace.

Once you’ve done that you’ll be able to browse the Windows Marketplace. Worried that the apps won’t be compatible with your slightly veteran Windows Mobile handset? Worry no more, Microsoft promises that “roughly 90% of apps in the the catalogue” support Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 devices.

Maybe your next Microsoft mobile will be a Zune!
