Channel 4 3D week is well under way. But what if The Queen in 3D isn’t your bag? Well, how about slapping down for some spanking new 3D Blu-rays to sate your new found appetite for all things three dimensional. If Channel 4 3D week isn’t doing it for you, we guarantee this lot will leave you open mouthed.
Coraline 3D
Rocking a lenticular sleeve and four pairs of 3D specs (use these rather than your Channel 4 3D week ColourCode jobbies), Coraline 3D is a killer introduction to 3D Blu-ray. The movie follows a child through an alternate version of her life, with plenty of spooky 3D characters to get you and the kids all het up.
My Bloody Valentine
This cult slasher flick is perfect for 3D nuts everywhere, especially if you like seeing guts and gore up close and personal. After a particularly nasty pickaxe massacre, the movie picks up ten years down the line, when a spate of similar killings leave everyone watching their backs. Even JLS on Channel 4 3D week isn’t as terrifying as this.
Monsters Vs Aliens
Animated movies cry out for the 3D treatment and Monsters Vs Aliens won’t disappoint fans of clever kids flicks. A classic good v evil battle with some stonking voice work (Stephen Colbert’s President Hathaway is ace), you even get a short 3D flick called B.O.B.’s Big Break chucked in too. Beats Channel 4 3D week all ends up for keeping he younger ones spellbound.
Channel 4 3D week: everything you need to know
Friday the Thirteenth: Part III 3D
Ok, it’s being shown as part of Channel 4 3D week anyway, but it won’t be in spanking Full HD on your telly will it? This third installation of the clasic horror series is full of classic hooror cliches, but it’ll still give you nightmares. And for 3D buffs, there’s even a featurette on the Blu-ray explaining how they made the 3D version. Take that Channel 4!
Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure 3D
It’s not just animation and horror when it comes to 3D Blu-ray. This National geographic doc is all about a prehistoric sea creature coping as the waters divide North America. As a premise, it’s bonkers. As a spectical, it’s ace. Channel 4 3D week can’t rival Blu-ray for something so bizarre.
The Final Destination 3D
Ok, we know the deal here. Pretty people escape death thanks to a premonition and then get hunted down in increasingly gruesome ways. The fact is, in 3D, it’s a killer and every bit as fun as the original. We’ll tak this over and Channel 4 3D week offering, that’s for sure.
Journey to the Centre of the Earth 3D
Ok, there are better Journey to the Centre of the Earth movies than Journey to the Centre of the Earth 3D. But if you want to be wowed by 3D Blu-ray, then you’ll struggle to find a better offering. Stunning special effects and visuals will soon have you forgetting about Brendan Fraser’s hammy turn.
The Polar Express 3D
If Channel 4 3D week had been just before Christmas, doubtless Polar Express 3D would have been at the very top of the schedules. We’re not ashamed to say we love this either. Young child boards a train to the North Pole after he doubts Santa Claus exists. Cue stunning visuals and myriad reasons to believe 3D is the future.
Toy Story 3D
Ok, it’s preorder only right now, but Toy Story 3D is the original, and arguably the best, Pixar movie. So imagine Woody, Buzz, Mr Potato Head and pals in 3D. It’s going to awesome and should sate your appetite in the run up to the release of Toy Story 3 next year.
A Christmas Carol 3D
Think Disney’s A Christmas Carol and you’rll probably think of naff festive lights on London’s Oxford Street. But the all new animation starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge is due to land on 3D Blu-ray and you can sign up for more info now. Expect a raft of interest as soon as Channel 4 3D week comes to an end.
Not got a Blu-ray player? Then these 3D flicks should do the trick
Shrek + 3D
Not the movie, but a different 3D adventure for Shrek, Fiona and Donkey. This time out its all about how it looks as much as he capers of these classic characters. Sure to keep the kids happy in their 3D specs.

Jaws 3D
How could we do a 3D movie round-up and not mention Jaws 3D. The only shame here is that it’s on DVD and not Blu-ray. Gentlemen, make our hi-def dreams come true so we can see the shark in three dimensions.

[...] Channel 4’s 3D week kicked off last night, but if you missed the extra dimensional spectacular, don’t worry: the highlights are ready to watch in full on 4oD now. [...]
