BBC iPlayerBBC iPlayer has been available on the Nintendo Wii for a year and a half now, but Auntie’s online on-demand service will now be getting its very own channel for quick and easy access. Want to know when? Read on and we’ll tell you.

Starting from one minute past midnight next Wednesday, you’ll be able to download BBC iPlayer as a channel from the Wii Shop, so you can jump right in to whatever you want to watch straight from start up.

Nintendo says the new Wii BBC iPlayer channel will come with a new UI to make us of the full screen and make browsing through TV and radio shows simple. It’s still UK only of course, but we’ll take any way to make getting BBC iPlayer on the TV even easier.

    Second off, great to hear there’ll be a Wii channel for the iPlayer. The improved UI _has_ to be better than using the standard Wii browser.

    Third off, please drop the “Want to know more? Read on and we’ll tell you [after the break]” style. It’s plain daft. Obviously, you’re going to tell us something, and we are going to read what you’ve written. Or is this a not-so-subtle way of padding out the “news” item? Are you paid per word?
