Got a Nokia? Can’t get enough of GPS? You’ll want to check out Skyhook Wireless‘ new plug-in then, Maps Booster, which helps you nab your location on the double using Wi-Fi look-up.
You might have heard of Skyhook before: it’s the company that helps things gizmos such as the iPod touch work out your location through Wi-Fi hotspots nearby. It’s just brought its technology to Symbian S60 nokia phones via way of a plug-in called Maps Booster.
Once installed, it’ll rapidly work out your location, and though dependent on the density of Wi-Fi zones near you (it’s a no go in the countryside), in built up areas can pinpoint your location down to the street you’re on – and unlike GPS, will work within buildings too.
