Tweetdeck is massively popular in its desktop version but on the iPhone it’s faced lots of strong competition. Luckily, it’s just kicked out a brand new version with loads of cool new features including Facebook integration. Read on to find out whether the update’s worth downloading…

Tweetdeck’s desktop client has let you add columns to show updates from your Facebook friends (and Myspace friends too) for sometime. Now Tweetdeck on the iPhone allows you to read status updates, write on walls, add comments and update your own Facebook status.

The new version also adds support for landscape keyboard, ideal for hardcore tweeters who find the shortened iPhone onscreen keyboard a little bit cramped. There’s a new option to save draft tweets and for those of you with an iPhone 3GS, integration for 12seconds.tv, the short video clip site.

Trending topics can now be added as a column in Tweetdeck for iPhone and you can now shorten links with Bit.ly which will also allow you to track how many clicks links you post on the go are getting.

All in all, Tweetdeck for iPhone has definitely upped its game, though support for location and Twitter Lists are clearly still needed, we’re certain that’s on the way.
