Samsung’s new mobile platform, Samsung bada, is good news for users but it’s bada (sorry!) news for the embattled Symbian Foundation. One of Samsung’s senior executives has said that it will ditch Symbian in 2010. But what does that mean for you? Read on to find out…
Samsung senior vice president Don Joo Lee told Digitimes that Samsung will continue to make Windows Mobile and Google Android phones in 2010 but will no longer make Symbian handsets. It will replace Symbian with Samsung bada, its own platform.
While Apple and Nokia are battling it out for the crown of world’s most profitable mobile manufacturer, Samsung still makes a serious amount of phones. Samsung shipped 200 million phones in 2009 and Lee predicts bada and Android handsets will increase that number by 10 to 20% in 2010.
