We’ve been waiting patiently for the Asus Eee PC T91MT multitouch netbook/tablet for some months now, but now the Taiwanese company is finally getting its act together and rolling it out, starting with this video showing the pinch zoom and new software in action. Read on to see!
The plain jane Windows XP Asus Eee PC T91 has been knocking around over here for some time, but an updated version with Windows 7 and two finger touch recognition, the Asus Eee PC T91MT, is now nearing launch.
As you can see from the official video, it’s more than just pinch zoom that’s been added. The Asus Eee PC T91MT takes full advantage of Windows 7’s native support, and adds Asus’s own software for leafing through photos, pulling them up and zooming in and out, as well as a massive finger friendly homescreen view for launching programs.
Asus Eee PC T91: first impressions
It’s good to see Asus making these changes with the Asus Eee PC T91MT, as while we were surprised by how intuitive the original model felt, XP’s tiny action boxes in the corners of the screen were staggeringly difficult to press, and typing with the keyboard folded down behind the screen took an age.
The Asus Eee PC T91MT has just gone on sale stateside for $532 (A surprisingly good value £317, even if that is without tax). We’ve just spoken to Asus UK about a release over here, and while there are no plans to sell the Asus Eee PC T91MT just yet, a spokesperson didn’t rule out that changing sometime soon. We’ll shout up if and when that happens.
