Modern Warfare 2 is shaping up to go down a storm at the tills and on the review pages when it launches tomorrow. Not only is it possibly the most controversial game since GTA 4, it’s now the most pre-ordered game since too, outstripping Rockstar’s epic for early reservations, Amazon says.
Modern Warfare 2 has sailed past GTA 4 as Amazon’s most pre-ordered game of all time, with more than 50 percent more early buyers slapping down to get a copy delivered to their door, and it’s now sitting at number one and two on the Xbox 360 and PS3 Amazon charts.

The expected boom in sales for Modern Warfare 2 is only going to cause more controversy, with one MP already complaining about the realism of violence in the game, and the title’s topicality and taste being questioned by critics.
Still, it looks like gamers outstrip the naysayers in number if Amazon’s pre-order crutch has been replicated across other shops. Modern Warfare 2 is out tomorrow, but be careful where you pick up a copy, as supermarkets are striving to undercut the RRP by more than 50 percent.
