LG GW620If you don’t need facetagging, the LG GW620 Android phone is shaping up to be a fairly ordinary Google phone, but the South Korean giant has announced a much more intriguing follow up is on the way next year, packing a superfast 1GHz Snapdragon processor, just like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.

Due in South Korea in Q2 next year, the Snapdragon LG Android phone will be a much more “mature” device than the GW620, which is running a fairly bog-standard Android OS beyond a promised “social networking service” manager it’s teased.

LG GW620: Android phone with phonebook face recognition

LG didn’t give any more details, but the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor inside means it’ll race through apps and multitasking. It’s the chip inside the HTC HD2 Windows Mobile smartphone and the Xperia X10, so we’re hoping it’ll be powering a handset with a screen just as big as either rival.

There’s no word on whether the next LG Android phone will escape the bottom half of the Korean peninsula, but it’s reportedly considering availability in other territories, so we’ve got our fingers crossed.
