Jackal? Images of an unreleased  Nintendo Wii game have popped up online as part of an animator’s portfolio. The game is a top-down strategy war game that puts the player in control of machine gun equipped jeeps. Keep reading to find out more about this mystery game…

Part of a portfolio put together by Wii-developer Eric Testroete, the top-down, zoomed-out strategy game images are apparently for a remake of an obscure Konami arcade game.

Jackal was a 1986 title that made its way to a few of the early consoles but didn’t really find much success. However, Testroete doesn’t explicitly name the game he was working on as Jackal (he simply called it “Undisclosed” and “Unannounced Project”).

Konami has released a raft of its older games as WiiWare titles so its not unlikely that it would bring another one back to life. But why choose such an obscure title?
