If rumours prove right, the Sony Ericsson Rachael Android smartphone is rapidly approaching launch, but there’s still time for a few leaks to sneak through, and this here video showing off the Rachael/Xperia X3′s multimedia juggling skills is the best of the bunch. Will the Sony Ericsson Rachael be the first true multimedia Android handset?
Traditionally, multimedia has been Android’s weak point. Even the HTC Hero struggles to playback movies smoothly, while our HTC Magic actually pulled the sound clips from a satnav app into the music library. But the Sony Ericsson Rachael UI shown here though is a complete breath of fresh air.
Sony Ericsson Rachael UI leaks on video
Not only does the Sony Ericsson Rachael Android skin outclass Apple’s Cover Flow by including separate artist snaps, but the layout cleverly turns convention on its head by offering up download links straight to the PlayNow Arena too. Album art stretches across the whole screen, while photos are arranged by order taken, viewed, favourites, and then web feeds from Flickr and Picasa. It’s nothing short of gorgeous, and should propel Sony Ericsson straight to the top of the smartphone game.
Take a look at the new Sony Ericsson Rachael teaser video here and stay tuned for more on Sony E’s Android coming very soon.
