Apple iMac

While Windows 7 users are facing the dreaded “endless reboot” buy, people with new iMacs may not be able to be smug. Owners of the recently released Apple 27in iMac are reporting a range of performance issues. Are there serious issues under the shiny facade of Apple’s latest desktops?

Over at Apple’s support boards, there’s a wave of people raising problems with performance from their new 27in iMacs.

The main symptom seems to be super-slow Flash video playback but there’s also tales of hard drives being forced to spin down, corrupted versions of Snow Leopard and problems with bad permissions.

Apple has not yet issued an official response to the issue but with complaints stacking up in its support forums, it’s likely to soon.

It’s still not clear whether the alleged problem with new 27in iMacs is confined to US users or if the UK has issues too. We’ve asked Apple for comment and we’ll let you know what it has to say.
