Keen to spread some of that mapping love to cyclists Garmin has outed the Garmin Edge 500 – a GPS-based cycling computer for serious cyclists. Along with the usual direction talents it’s stacked with features to get you legs like Redwood tree trunks.

Cyclists using the Garmin Edge 500 will be able to store and analyse their cycling stats online as well as add detailed workouts, saved rides and courses thanks to its microSD card slot.

The Garmin Edge 500 will even measure your speed, distance, time, calories burned and the altitude you’re pedaling at. Virtual Partner software will even give you a virtual competitor to race against. On top of that you’ll find all the usual turn-by-turn directions you’d expect from a sat-nav.
