The Vodafone 360 M1 is the second dedicated phone to grab Voda’s 360 social networking skin and software suite. Think of it as the big and beautiful H1’s little brother: it’s a smaller, cheaper affair that packs almost as much in, and we’ve just gone hands-on with it. Get all the pics right here in our gallery.
The 3.2-inch screen on the Vodafone 360 M1 certainly won’t wow anyone’s eyeballs like the H1’s OLED display, but it helps keep things small and simple to slide into the skinniest of jeans. You’ll also find 3G inside, though no Wi-Fi, and a 3MP camera.
But the big selling point is the Vodafone 360 software: the People address book yanks in Facebook updates and all sorts of contact options like IM and email, and offers a colourful screen layout where you can view contacts by those you call most – there’s a regular list view too of course if you don’t want your phone predicting your social life for you.
Vodafone 360 H1: hands-on photo overload!
From our brief play with the Vodafone 360 M1, we were impressed at how it rifled through friends’ status updates at the same speed as the H1, and the expandable widgets on the homescreen even show the iPhone how it should be done. The onscreen keyboard is also surprisingly responsive, though Vodafone needs to tweak its auto correct software some, but the less said about the web browser, the better. Although it’s got Samsung’s useful one finger zoom, it’s slow and a bit unpleasant to use.
Pricing and release are yet to be announced, but Vodafone says the Vodafone 360 M1 should hit within a few weeks. We’re hoping it’ll be priced to go toe to toe with the likes of the HTC Tattoo. Tiny Android phone versus tiny social butterfly phone – which one will you choose? Have a look in our gallery and see if it sways you.
