Dell’s got a rock solid new touchscreen tablet notebook to tie in with the launch of Windows 7, the Dell Latitude XT2 XFR. It’s every bit as robust as the previous Captain Scarlet computers in the Latitude line, but this time, there’s multitouch too.
If you need a laptop on an oil rig, in a desert or just have fingers you can believe are butter, the Dell Latitude XT2 XFR is for you. You can knock the 12.1-inch toughie about all you want, but the military standard laptop will survive three feet drops (bounces, if you will), as well as rain, dust and extreme heat or cold.

The Dell Latitude XT2 XFR’s big selling point though is the capacitive touchscreen, twinned with the multitouch skills of Windows 7, so you can pinch, zoom and twist your way through apps and docs.
Under the beefy bonnet of the Dell Latitude XT2 XFR you’ll find a 1.6GHz Core Duo processor, up to 5GB of RAM and options for a 64 or 128GB SSD or a 160GB hard drive, and it’s up to order on Dell’s UK site now, starting at £1,997 without VAT.
