Sonos Controller 3.1 softwareThe latest Sonos software has just hit the web, letting anyone with the multi-room streaming rig add new menus and Twitter support to their remotes. Want to microblog what you’re listening to? Here’s how to get it.

We had a play with the new Sonos 3.1 update when we checked out the new Sonos Zoneplayer S5 last week, but it’s now out for anyone to download over on the Sonos website. As well as adding support for the new Zoneplayer, the update adds gorgeous new menu icons and Twitter support.

The Sonos Twitter integration sounds tacky, but it’s surprisingly well thought out: you can quickly autofill what you’re listening to into your 140 character slot, but you can simply write whatever you want too, and since both the CR200 remote and iPhone have responsive capacitive touchscreens, typing is a doddle. It’s just a handy way to give everyone your two cents if you’re sitting on the sofa, without having to reach for a phone or a keyboard.

Check for updates on your Sonos Controller software or remote now and you’ll be able to download it for free. We’ve just tried it ourselves, and installation takes just minutes, so don’t be put off – give it a whirl, and commence tweeting.
