The Nintendo DSi is about to get a makeover, just six months after it shelves. That’s the word according to chaps in the know in Japan, who say the handheld is set to get beefed up screens as soon as the end of 2009.
The report, by Nikkei, says Nintendo is planning on outing a new version of the DSi with two 4-inch screens, rather than the current 3.25-inch eyeball-strokers currently found on the console.
It’s all to do with older people’s eyesight apparently. Gamers who are getting on are struggling to see their copies of Brain Training and Chinatown Wars, so Nintendo wants to ensure they’re taken care of with a new DSi.
The report says the new DSi will be out in Japan this year, although there’s no word on whether this bulkier model will be out and about here in the UK. We’re chasing Nintendo for more details.
