CoPilot Live 8 satnav software is already out on Windows Mobile, with matching versions on sale for Android and the iPhone too, but it’s still missing on one major smartphone platform: Symbian S60. Never fear though: ALK is hard at work bringing it to a Nokia near you, and we’ve got the photo evidence to prove it.
CoPilot Live 8 brings a bag of useful new features to ALK’s cross platform satnav app, including updated maps, longer lists of direction icons so you can see the turn after next, and Live Search to pull down POIs from the web while you’re on the move. It’s currently in development for Symbian S60, and we saw it demoed on a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic at the Symbian tradeshow in London today.
CoPilot Live launches for iPhone
Graphically, it’s up to the mark with over versions of CoPilot Live 8, and both the maps and menus were clear, easy to see and use, despite the 5800’s narrow screen.
CoPilot Live 8 for Symbian is far from finished however: tilting the 5800 it was running on into landscape mode caused a spectacular crash, and ALK told us it was unlikely to launch before next year. But we were promised the same competitive pricing CoPilot Live has seen on Android and iPhone (That’s £26, people), so the outlook is sunny still. Have a look for yourself right here in our hands-on gallery.

[...] CoPilot Live 8 for Symbian: hands-on photos The CoPilot Live iphone app update is completely free and ready to download now, but ALK says there’s still more to come in future, including in-app payment for Live services, and the ability to pause or quieten music during voice navigation instructions. The company also promises more goodies based on customer feedback, so if you’ve downloaded CoPilot Live for iPhone, don’t be afraid to tell it what you think on Twitter so everyone else can chime in too.
