Now that the Mac line refresh is out of the way, Apple tablet rumours are back at the top of the agenda for Cupertino navel gazers, and the latest slippage comes by way of a New York Times exec, who may have just leaked the name of the longed for machine. Is the Apple tablet the Apple Slate?
We’re not expecting the Apple tablet until some time next year, but Bill Keller, executive of The New York Times, may have spilled the beans on the name for it. Speaking at a conference last week, he told the audience that he was hopeful “we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate.”
Apple tablet: e-reader rumours gain strength
If it were anyone else, we’d pass Keller’s remarks off as him putting two and two together from the leaks we’ve all seen so far, but the fact that the speech was supposed to be off the record, combined with rumours the New York super rag has had meetings with Steve Jobs’ minions about the Apple tablet, mean he could have let slip more than Joe Public is supposed to know right now.
Have a look for yourself in the speech right here, and skip to 8:25 for the good stuff on the Apple tablet.
