Windows 7 Mac supportAttttttenshun! Windows 7 is headed to Boot Camp, Apple’s nifty little set up to get Microsoft’s OS up and running on Intel-based Macs, and before the end of the year too! We’ve got the full explanation and support list right here.

If you’ve got Snow Leopard running on your MacBook or Mac machine, you’ll soon be able to run Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate editions via Boot Camp with a software update Apple says is coming before 2010.

Windows 7 vs Snow Leopard: which one is right for you?

You’ll have to buy a copy of Windows 7 yourself of course, and there are a few caveats to bear in mind: 2006 iMacs, Mac Pros and MacBook Pros are a no go (See the full list here), but it’s good to have the option there if you need a certain piece of software not available on OS X, or you just want the gloss of a unibody laptop and none of the spinning beach balls of death.

We’ll holler at you as soon as the Windows 7 update for Boot Camp goes live, but dual booters, prime your credit card to make an order soon.

Err…I installed Windows 7 professional 64bit on my Aluminium Macbook through BootCamp a couple of days ago and it’s working fine…what exactly will they be releasing to support it?

Not that my computer is capable of running virtual machines, but solutions like Parallels or VMWare seem so much more elegant. Also, I’m not sure why Microsoft even lets this go on. The amount of Mac owners buying Windows DVD’s can’t be that huge. Don’t they make all of their money in Office?
