It’s Windows 7 D-day today: as of right now, you can pick up the refurbished Redmond OS, so if you’ve been stuck with Vista for the last three years, it’s time to right all those wrongs Microsoft lumped on you. Read on for all our coverage.
You’ve been able to play with Windows 7 since the beginning of the year as a beta and release candidate, but now the official version with no time limit is out on sale, and if you’ve checked our verdict already, you’ll know it goes along way to fixing the bloated mistake that kept most people on XP for the best part of a decade.
You can now pick up Windows 7 Home Premium edition for £115, or grab an upgrade family pack for both Vista and XP for £130 to cover three machines in your pad. If you’re a student though, you’re in luck, as you can nab it before the end of the year for just 30 smackers.
It’s not just good news for upgraders though: you’ll find shops stuffed full of new PCs and laptops running Windows 7 too, from tasty touchscreen all-in-ones to ludicrously thin portables, so if you’ve skipped over Vista entirely, now’s the time to splash out!
We’ll be running Windows 7 features throughout the day, digging deeper into Microsoft’s OS, so keep an eye out for those and of course, read our Windows 7 review right now.
