windows-7Windows 7 has just been confirmed as the biggest grossing pre-order on Amazon.co.uk, taking top spot from the last Harry Potter novel and seriously outshining Windows Vista to boot. That’s great news for Microsoft, with the new OS set to land officially tomorrow.

Amazon.co.uk says the only item to shift more than Windows 7 in the past three months is Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code follow-up The Lost Symbol. And to put it into even greater perspective, pre-orders for Windows 7 in the first eight hours of going on sale outnumbered those of Windows Vista’s entire pre-order period.

Amazon is being less coy about exact figures for the pre-order of Windows 7, but it seems the rejigged operating system is set to do swift business when it launches tomorrow.

    Well, I just received an email from Amazon.com which states that Susan Boyle’s up-coming CD is “the biggest pre-order ever at Amazon.com”. So, I don’t know where you are getting your information.

      Simple, Eric. Windows 7 is out now. At the time of the story, it was the biggest pre-order. Clearly, Subo’s bigger than Windows though. She should put that on the front of the CD…
