Sony Ericsson SatioSony Ericsson is running a quirky new competition with super photographer Jillian Edelstein: to celebrate the launch of the 12.1 megapixel Satio, they’ve teamed up to snap the eyes of 121 volunteers for a new exhibition. Want to get involved? We’ve got the details here.

Edelstein has snapped everyone from Nelson Mandela to Ray Winstone before, and now she could be shooting your mug too. As part of a new online project called Eyes Wide Open, she’ll be getting up close shots of 121 eyes over the course of 12.1 hours. The significance, if you haven’t guessed, is the number of megapixels in the Sony Ericsson Satio, although by our maths, that odd number means one contestant may be wearing an eye patch.

Sony Ericsson is offering you the chance to get involved as a subject over at eyeswideopen.uk.net, so if you want to be immortalised in the online gallery that follows, just head on over there and upload a picture, pronto.

That’s a fine publicity stunt for the all new Satio! I guess there are many people who would like to have their eyes photographed by Jillian Edelstein. Sony Ericsson seems to be embarking on these kind of virals a lot lately. Just remember the Space hopper invasion in Barcelona (I am not really sure for which phone introduction that was).
