Apple is priming a raft of new goodies today, including a new iMac, MacBook and a multitouch “magic mouse.” That’s the gossip from pundit John Gruber, who’s made the prediction after Apple grabbed headlines for its most successful financial quarter ever.
Gruber’s predictions are part of a wider war of words with fellow analyst and Apple spotter Dan Lyons. Lyons has already made vague aspersions about today’s announcements, but Gruber has gone into some detail about a new iMac and MacBook.
New iMac: Blu-ray not included
The latter is looking like the new, cheaper, white plastic MacBook we’ve been promised for months. A new iMac has also been in line for a while, although the quad-core machines are not likely to come rocking Blu-ray.
Most interestingly, however, is talk of a multitouch “magic mouse” and a multitouch trackpad. This rings a bell with previous patents, showing an iPod touch-like device working as a way of wheeling around the screen. It would certainly make sense to unleash this alongside a new iMac.
With a pumped up Mac Mini also being touted, today could be a busy one for Apple fanatics. And with Windows 7 out on Thursday, it’d be no surprise if Apple gazumped Microsoft’s party.
