Apple’s at last decided to hitch itself to the Twitter bandwagon, starting four new accounts to tell the world about what it’s plying on the iTunes store. The move is being seen as a new way for Cupertino to open up after years of being cagey about what goes on inside the company.
The new Apple Twitter accounts, @iTunesMusic, @iTunesMovies, @iTunesTV and @iTunesPodcasts are all designed to push the latest music, shows and movies on the world’s most popular download store.
Twitter set to launch user generated followers lists
It follows on from the @iTunesTrailers account, which now has a massive one million followers after being set up in March. These new accounts, however, are being shouted about on Apple.com, with Stevie J and co finally getting involved with Twitter.
The question is whether this will lead to internal tweets from Apple staff, a la Google or if it’s just a case of Apple taking a new approach to selling media. Here’s hoping a proper Steve Jobs account is just around the corner.
