This twin screen e-reader may look like a bloated Palm Pixi with a missing keypad, but it’s about to turn the dusty e-reader market upside down. Not only does it pack a second, colour screen, but it runs Android too!
Called the Alex, this 3G twin screen e-reader comes with a regular 6-inch electronic paper display on top for hours of virtual paperback peeping, but underneath, you’ll find a 3.5-inch screen for multimedia munching and web browsing too, and an SD slot for bolstering up your digital library.

Constructed by Spring Design, it’s an incredibly smart bit of kit with tight integration between the two screens: if you find a lengthy article online, you can switch it over to the eInk screen to save your eyes and the battery life.
Spring says the twin screen Android e-reader will roll out before the end of the year. There’s no word on whether that includes the UK, but it’s GSM friendly, meaning there’s nothing stopping it from working on UK networks if any major players over here get on board, so we’ll let you know once any partners break cover. Are you watching this, Cool-er?
