Three and Spotify just unleashed a killer music streaming tariff for the HTC Hero, but that’s not the only child spawned of this little love-in: Three says mobile broadband dongles will soon come with Spotify Premium access too! Is this just the start of a Three Spotify partnership?
Three’s director of products and services, Charlotte Blanchard, said in a statement this morning that not only will Three offer Spotify with the HTC Hero, but other devices too, and not just phones.
Three launches Spotify super-tariff with HTC Hero
“As a first step we’ve built this service into an attractive, well-priced package with the HTC Hero. Over time our deal with Spotify will extend across a range of our products including Mobile Broadband,” she said.
Blanchard didn’t say what those other products might be (an INQ phone perhaps?), but it’s a smart move bringing Spotify subscriptions to mobile broadband, which would mean bundled Spotify access for the lifetime of your contract.
Anyone who needs to jump online away from Wi-Fi will welcome the ability to block out the coffee shop chatter around them, and with Spotify Premium bundled it’ll mean they can listen to their favourite tracks without ads too.
There’s no news on when Spotify Premium subscriptions will begin being bundled with Three’s dongles and other phones (are Nokias next in line?) but it’s a clear statement from Three that it wants to make Spotify Premium an essential part of it offerings, just as it has Skype.
