Mobile rockers rejoice! Rock Band for iPhone has just hit the App Store, bringing with it 20 classic numbers, a super low price tag and a top drawer reason to splash out on a new Apple gadget. So how’s it different from its big console brothers?
Well for a kick off, you’re not playing a fake instrument, just tapping the screen, a la Guitar Hero On Tour on the DS. Fortunately there’s no need for a plectrum to play Rock Band for iPhone, just your digits and a sense of rhythm.
You can play Rock Band for iPhone on your own or hook up via Bluetooth and rock out with three more pals. Vocals, drums, bass and guitar are all present and correct. Thankfully for commuters and anyone who happens to be outside, you can’t actually sing into your iPhone, rather tap out the notes on screen.
The tracklist ranges from the sublime, The Go Go’s “We Got The Beat” and Pixies’ “Debaser” to the, ahem, interesting with Blink 182’s “All The Small Things.”
But the best bit? It only costs £5.99 on the App Store. That compares to £19.99 for Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades on the DS.
