Toshiba Satellite L450 laptop: Windows 7 on a budget

Toshiba’s got one last hand to play in the rush towards Windows 7 next week: the Toshiba Satellite L450. It’s a full-sized, full-featured laptop with the specs to match, but it costs less than some netbooks.

The Toshiba Satellite L450, which arrives later this month, manages to cram in some decent specs with a base price of just £329, including RAM expandable to 4GB and a hard drive of up to 500GB, but it’s the inclusion of HDMI we’re digging, if you fancy lashing it up to your flatscreen in the living room.

You’ll find three USB ports on the Toshiba Satellite L450 laptop (more than a new MacBook Pro, we might add) and Toshiba’s LifeSpace software running atop Windows 7 Home Premium, designed to mix desktop organisation with your own calendar.

Also announced is the Toshiba Satellite L555, a 17.3-inch number with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and HDMI. It lands at the same time as the Toshiba Satellite L450, starting from £699. Not bad prices for either, we think you’ll agree. Now Toshiba’s thrown down the gauntlet, let the undercutting commence!
