Spotify just upped its game ahead of Sky Songs‘ launch on Monday, making it simpler and quicker to buy tracks you like from within the app itself. Impulse song shoppers, your dreams just came true.
You’ve been able to buy songs from Spotify via MP3 download partner 7digital for some time, but the music streaming service just made it even easier. You can now snap up favourite tracks from within the desktop Spotify client, and see which tunes are on offer with a simple little “Buy” button next to them.
Three partnering with Spotify on tariffs?
Restarting Spotify will trigger the upgrade: we’ve had a fiddle with it and it’s very simple. Just slap that purchase icon, and a pop up box appears in the app. Just agree to the fineprint, enter your deets and you’re done. The tracks are 320kbps MP3s, rather than the lower quality Spotify streams, so will be music to your ears on any audio player.
A Spotify spokesperson told us the simplified buying option is something the company would “like to incorporate” for the mobile versions on iPhone and Android, though it’s not there yet. If that changes, we’ll let you know: we smell a way for the start up to take on iTunes right here.
